Shinjo Mayu is a Japanese mangaka (comic artist), who was born in the Nagasaki prefecture. Her first professional series was Anata no Iro ni somaritai (I want to be dyed with your color) in 1994. Her most popular work is Kaikan Phrase (Sensual Phrase, also known as Kaiphra), which was collected in 17 volumes, plus many special chapters, and it's her only work with an anime (44 episodes). Other popular mangas by Shinjo Mayu are Haou Airen, Love Celeb, and her latest job, Sex=Love². All of her mangas were published by Shogakukan, and most of them, in the Shoujo Comic Flower magazine.

Her stories are very similar between them: they always feature an innocent girl, and a handsome, adult-like and lustful boy. Apart from that, she is really the queen of erotic shoujo, since her mangas are full of sexual scenes, but have delicate and beautiful drawings, showing girls' vision of sex. Shinjo has become very popular in Japan and other countries, and her mangas have been published internationally.

In her free-talks we can notice Shinjo-sensei's tastes: cars, music, eating and diets (what?), and they are generally present in her mangas. By the way, she has said that Miu in Virgin Crisis is a reflect of her as an adolescent. For example, she had a complex with her child-like body, but could pay the children fee when buying subway tickets until the end of high school!
